Why African Drumming?
African drumming is a powerful and unforgettable experience that connects people through rhythm, energy and collective creation. Even without previous experience, everyone can participate and experience a sense of belonging that you don’t normally find in music. Under the instructor’s guidance, the group quickly harmonizes into one rhythm – without words, without hierarchy, just through listening, cooperation and the joy of playing. Drumming relieves stress, awakens creativity and brings new energy and mutual understanding to the workplace. It’s an ideal activity for teambuilding, corporate events, or as an original way to energize your team with good mood and shared experience.
Drumming Lessons
1.
Regular Courses
Ten-lesson cycles that take place every week in Prague’s Žižkov district. Currently running courses for beginners and slightly advanced students, where you learn to play African djembe drums and bass drums. The first lesson is free!
2.
Workshops
Workshops take place occasionally and are always focused on one specific African rhythm. Workshops are usually accessible to all skill levels, but some will be specifically targeted at beginners or advanced players.
3.
Jams
Jams take place occasionally several times a year and are open to everyone! Instruments are available and no previous playing experience is necessary. During the jam you have the freedom to play your own rhythm or follow more experienced players.
Drumming Experience
1.
For Companies
Original teambuilding for any corporate event. Drumming offers an amazing opportunity to play together even without previous experience and experience a sense of belonging that is unusual with other musical instruments. Under the guidance of an experienced instructor or facilitator, everyone can participate, regardless of previous experience or musical talent.
2.
For Children
We offer events for kindergartens, schools and children’s festivals. Drumming is a source of joy and fun for children. Children can relax, be spontaneous and express their emotions through drums. It’s also a great opportunity to unwind from everyday obligations.

About Me
Tomáš Oplatek
A PROGRAMMER WITH A PASSION FOR MUSIC
I am a musician and programmer with more than 20 years of experience in African drumming. I lead courses, workshops, and team-building activities that use rhythm to foster creativity, collaboration, and shared experiences.
I started drumming in 2005. Since then, I have learned from masters like Thomas Guei (Ivory Coast) and Bassidi Koné (Mali), played in the band TiDiTaDe, and today I perform with Barati Squad. Besides djembe, I also focus on balafon and krin – I’m currently opening balafon courses for the public. I regularly accompany African dance classes by Simona Prokůpková and Tereza Pospěchová.
Music is my lifelong language – from African rhythms to piano, which has been with me since childhood.
In IT, I work as a game and web programmer, which allows me to combine technical precision with creativity and lead projects with broader impact.
